Thank you to everyone who viewed our live Smart Grids Webinar. If you missed it or would like to view it again, you can view our on-demand version.

During the webinar, representatives of Ofgem, IBM and EDF Energy Networks discussed the development of smart grids in the UK and across Europe, focussing on the challenges and next steps required. The webinar took place in the same week as the publication of Ofgem's final decision document on its new RIIO model, so participants also discussed how regulatory change will influence their ability to drive forward smarter gas and electricity networks for a low carbon future.

Topics that were addressed included:

>

Understanding the drivers and benefits of smart grid
> Making smart grid a reality – where does the industry begin?
> Learning from experience: exploring case studies from abroad
> Driving forward development: does the current regulatory framework support the necessary investment and innovation?
